What exactly is prayer?

What exactly is prayer?

Prayer is the communication between God and man. It is the open flow of heart-felt requests, a way to pour our hearts out, and a point of contact to commune with our creator. Prayer is how God builds a relationship with man, and how man draws closer to God. Here are a few ways prayers are used.

Prayer is used as a way to make a request found in this verse here Philippians 4:6-7
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Prayer is also a way to receive help in our times of trouble. When we call upon the Lord, the Bible says He hears us and delivers us from our distress. Note these verses found in Psalm 34:4-6 I sought the Lord, and He heard me And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed. 6 This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him And saved him out of all his troubles.

Prayer is a way we can hear from God daily as we set aside quiet time to talk to God.  Not only does prayer strengthen and grow our knowledge of who God is, but it also builds a great relationship in trust as our fellowship with God deepens. The more we pray the more we build confidence in the God who hears us, ( 1 John 5:14) Remember prayer is not a complicated tool in reaching God, To simply put, prayer is man talking to His creator!
