Did Jesus take our sins?

How many times have you heard the phrase, “He took our sins upon himself?” Many times, I can imagine. But have you ever really sat and thought about it?

Our sins, small or large in our own heart, is nevertheless sin to God! The sin that not only separates us from Him but must have a consequence... Jesus took those consequences which were death upon Himself.

The Bible tells us here that the wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.


Think of it like this, you rob a bank and get caught! You stand before a judge in court and he sentences you to life in prison! However, before you can serve any of your time in prison, a man stands up, and says to the Judge that He will take your punishment for your crimes! The judge sets you free and tells you to go and commit no more crimes!


You are now free and spread the Good news of a man that took your punishment upon himself!

This is Jesus! He came down here on earth to take your punishment for your sins! He died on the cross, bearing your sins, to make you in right standing with God!

Whatever your sin is, Sex out of marriage, liar, cheater, lustful, gossiping, etc..

Jesus came to set you free from it all! The Bible says it so clearly here! Hebrews 3:15-16

15 while it is said: “Today if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”




Did you notice the word” Today”? You don’t have time! Tomorrow is not a promise to anyone! Make the choice to receive Jesus as Your Lord and Savior! Don’t harden your heart, but let Him into your heart!
